Upper West Side — Central Park to the Hudson, 60th to 110th — covers some of Manhattan's most established prewar housing stock plus the high-end Riverside Drive and Central Park West buildings. Kitchens here range from original 1920s layouts (renovated to Sub-Zero/Wolf) to gut-renovated lofts at 15 CPW and 200 East 75th. We're on the UWS several days a week.

UWS prewar buildings — what we see
Pre-war buildings (1900s-1940s) on West End, Riverside, Central Park West, and the cross streets typically had Sub-Zero and Wolf installed during 1990s-2010s renovations. Older 600 series Sub-Zero (BI-36, BI-42) is very common — these units are 15-25 years old now and reaching the age where the original compressor and control board are due for service.
The challenge in a pre-war UWS apartment is access. Older buildings have narrow service elevators, sometimes no service entrance at all, and labyrinthine hallways. Some Sub-Zero parts (like full doors with custom panels) won't fit through. We've done UWS calls where we've had to remove a door from the cabinet IN the apartment because it wouldn't fit through the building's main door. We know the buildings and plan accordingly.
UWS new construction (15 CPW, 200 W 67th, 50 Riverside, etc.)
The newer luxury buildings on the UWS are spec'd to current Sub-Zero/Wolf throughout — typically a full integrated kitchen with refrigerator column, freezer column, wine column, dual-fuel range, double oven, warming drawer, sometimes coffee system. These buildings have proper service elevators and dedicated freight access, so the logistics are easier. We service these regularly.
Common UWS repair calls
- Sub-Zero BI-36/BI-42 from 1995-2010 renovations needing compressor or sealed system work (most common UWS call)
- Wolf range igniter replacement in pre-war kitchens (igniters last 8-15 years; many UWS units are past due)
- Sub-Zero ice maker not making ice — usually fill tube freeze or water filter long overdue
- Wolf double oven control board after summer power events
- Sub-Zero hinge adjustment on heavy custom panels (UWS kitchens often have custom millwork)
- Sub-Zero water filter replacements (every 6 months on NYC water)
UWS building access
- COI required in almost all UWS buildings — we deliver to building management within 30 minutes of booking
- Service elevator required in most pre-war buildings — book during service elevator hours (typically 9-4 weekdays)
- Doorman / concierge buildings — we coordinate arrival timing
- No-doorman walk-ups — common on side streets; tenant access required

Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you get to the Upper West Side?
Same-day in nearly all cases. The UWS is a high-volume neighborhood for us. Morning calls scheduled before noon, afternoon calls before 6pm. Emergency same-day available for no-cooling situations on Sub-Zero.
My Sub-Zero is from a 1998 UWS renovation — can it still be repaired or should I replace?
Almost always worth repairing. A well-maintained Sub-Zero from 1998 has another 10-15 years of life with reasonable repairs. Common parts (compressor, control board, fan motor, evaporator) are all still available. We give honest replacement-vs-repair advice on every diagnostic.
Can you service my Sub-Zero / Wolf at 15 CPW / 200 W 67th / The Aldyn?
Yes. We service all major UWS luxury buildings. Each has specific building procedures; we maintain a dispatch note for each major building.
My UWS pre-war doesn't have a service entrance. Can you still service my Sub-Zero?
Yes. We work in many UWS buildings without dedicated service entrances. We use the main entrance and elevator. We're respectful of building rules (clean shoe covers, drop cloths, no loud equipment in lobby).
