Wolf 48-inch range in NYC kitchen

The Wolf Pro range is, by mass, the dominant luxury range in Manhattan kitchens. We work on more of them than any other product. Below is the deeply detailed breakdown of what we fix and what it costs.

Most common Wolf range repairs

Surface burner won't ignite

Step one is diagnosing whether you're getting spark and whether you're getting gas. Spark but no flame: usually the gas valve or the orifice. Gas but no spark: igniter, igniter wire, or spark module. Our trucks carry a wide range of replacement parts for common Wolf series — most ignition repairs are completed on the first visit.

Symptoms and likely cause:

Broiler not working (or running too hot)

The Wolf infrared broiler is a ceramic-tile element. When it fails it's a depends on the specific model and failure mode repair including labor. When it's "running too hot" the cause is usually a stuck thermostat or temperature sensor — separate problem, separate cost.

Oven not heating evenly

Convection fan motor failure or bake element failure. We test with a calibrated probe at multiple points inside the oven cavity to confirm the failure pattern before recommending replacement.

Continuous clicking when burner is off

Spark module locked in continuous-spark mode. Usually water intrusion (from cleaning) on the spark module. Sometimes a burner switch stuck closed. Replacement is a 30-minute job once the right component is identified.

Oven door not closing properly

Door spring failure (very common — they fatigue over years), worn hinges, or warped door from extreme heat. Spring + hinge replacement depends on the specific model and parts required side. Our trucks carry common springs and hinges so we can often finish in one visit.

Knob falling off or backplate damaged

Knob D-shaft wear or backplate corrosion. Knobs we replace during the visiteach depending on series.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should the surface burner igniters be replaced?

They typically last 8–12 years with normal use, but pots that boil over and dump water onto the igniter shorten that significantly. If you see the igniter clicking but the burner doesn't light reliably even when clean and dry, replacement is due.

Is it dangerous to keep using a Wolf range with one bad burner?

Not dangerous if the burner doesn't ignite — there's a flame-sensor cutoff that closes the gas valve if it doesn't see flame within a few seconds. Dangerous: if you smell gas at all, including faintly. Stop using the range and call us.

Wolf range from 2005. Is it worth maintaining?

Yes, almost certainly. These ranges are designed for 25+ year service. Most repairs are wear-item replacements. The only time replacement makes sense is structural damage to the cooktop deck or a multi-failure on a 20+ year unit.

Can you convert my Wolf range from natural gas to propane (or vice versa)?

Yes. Wolf provides conversion orifice kits for most series. Conversion depends on the specific model and parts required including the kit and full burner calibration. We also recalibrate the oven igniter assembly for dual-fuel models.

My Wolf range has a yellow flame. Should I be concerned?

Yes. Yellow flame indicates incomplete combustion — wasted gas, soot accumulation, and potential carbon monoxide production. Usually the orifice is clogged, the burner cap is misaligned, or the gas-air mixer needs adjustment. Worth a service call.
