Wolf Rangetop Repair

Wolf SRT-series sealed burner rangetops — Pro-grade cooktop without integrated oven. Same burner platform as Wolf ranges. Burners, gas valves, ignition, modular accessories.

Wolf rangetop with red knobs and griddle

The Wolf SRT (Sealed Burner Rangetop) is what owners install when they want the Wolf Pro burner platform but separate wall ovens. Most NYC luxury kitchens with Wolf wall ovens have an SRT instead of a full Pro range.

Mechanically, the SRT shares 80% of its components with the Wolf Pro range top half: same dual-stack burners, same brass valves, same spark module architecture. We repair them the same way.

Models we service

Common SRT failures

Burner won't ignite

Same diagnosis path as Wolf ranges: igniter, spark module, gas valve. See our range repair page for the full breakdown — same pricing applies.

Charbroiler module not heating

If your SRT has a charbroiler module instead of standard burners on one section, common failures are the charbroiler igniter and the gas valve specifically for that module. Element-style charbroilers (more recent) use an infrared element similar to oven broilers.

Griddle module problems

Griddle plates can warp from extreme heat cycling. Surface temperature uneven. We can sometimes re-flatten but for severe warping the plate needs replacement.

Downdraft integration not working

Some SRT installations are paired with downdraft ventilation. Failures are usually fan motor or fan control board on the downdraft, not the SRT itself.

Components we service

Same as Wolf range repair — see that page for full pricing breakdown.

SRT installation patterns in NYC kitchens

The SRT rangetop is what owners install when they want Wolf's pro-grade burner platform paired with separate Wolf wall ovens (single or double). Common reasons we see this configuration in NYC:

SRT-specific service patterns

Higher-than-average burner cycling

Because owners with SRT setups often have dedicated wall ovens, the cooktop sees disproportionately heavy use compared to a full-range install. We see igniter and gas valve wear arriving 2–3 years earlier on SRT units than on equivalent Wolf Pro ranges.

Downdraft integration

SRT paired with downdraft ventilation creates an additional failure mode: downdraft fan failure that owners initially blame on the SRT. Symptoms include weak flame (downdraft sucking air past the burner) and slow combustion. We diagnose both systems on the same visit when applicable.

Charbroiler and griddle modules

SRT364G and similar variants include modular charbroiler or griddle inserts. These have their own gas valves, igniters, and surface elements. Common failures: griddle plate warping under high heat, charbroiler igniter wear.

Common parts we stock for SRT

Most SRT repairs finish in a single visit because the shared parts platform with Wolf Pro ranges means our truck inventory covers both.

Replacement vs. repair on older SRT units

The SRT was introduced in the mid-2000s and we still service first-generation units. Mechanical components have aged well; electronics (spark modules) are the most common wear item. Replacement of an entire SRT depends on the specific model and parts required not including installation. Most repairs on a 15-year SRT cost far less than replacement — repair almost always wins.

Why NYC Sub-Zero & Wolf owners trust us

Our guarantee, in writing

Every repair includes a 180-day labor warranty and a 1-year manufacturer warranty on every OEM Sub-Zero and Wolf part we install. Written and handed to you before we leave. If the same issue returns within that window, we come back at no labor charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are SRT parts interchangeable with Wolf Pro range parts?

Burner igniters, spark modules, and many gas valves are identical or interchangeable. Some differ. We confirm part numbers before bringing a part to your job.

My griddle module warped. Can you re-flatten it?

Sometimes for minor warping (under 1/4" deflection). For severe warping, replacement is the right answer. Replacement griddle plates run depends on the specific model and failure mode depending on size.
