Why 650 series is different from current Sub-Zero
The 650 platform was Sub-Zero's main built-in series for about 15 years before being replaced by the current BI series, then the Classic Series. The 650 uses a different control board, different refrigeration plumbing, different door hinges than current models. A tech who's never seen a 650 will misdiagnose. We service them daily.

Is a 650 worth repairing in 2026?
Almost always yes if it's working well otherwise. A new Sub-Zero is quoted on-sitek installed. A typical 650 repair is quoted on-site. The 650 platform was designed for 20-25 year service life — at 15-20 years old (where most are now), you have 5-10 years of life left with reasonable maintenance.
